About Calli by Steph
The face behind the lettering
Steph’s been a creative soul since she was little, always getting stuck into arts and crafts projects. Back at school, she even bagged a few awards for her handwriting – who knew that would come in handy later in life.
Now, Steph loves using her interest in handwriting to transform writing into beautiful keepsakes and pieces of art.
She is a self-obsessed ‘pen collector’ and to add loves to expand her collection to ensure she achieves the best style of handwriting for her clients.
What started as a hobby has slowly turned into her little business. She’s absolutely mad about Modern Calligraphy, which is basically a more artistic style of lettering that’s much more expressive than traditional Calligraphy. It lets you get really creative and put your own spin on things, which she absolutely loves. Steph also offers traditional calligraphy, for bespoke requests.
These days, Steph runs workshops and creates bespoke pieces through Calli by Steph. There’s something quite magical about taking ordinary words and turning them into something beautiful with a brush pen, or nib and ink. She loves sharing this craft with others and showing them how therapeutic and rewarding it can be.
The workshops are a relaxed, supportive and informal space, and everyone is welcome – no matter if you have experience, or not. The aim of the workshop is for you to give it a go, perhaps learn something new, and hopefully enjoy trying it. Steph is on hand to help and support throughout the workshop.
Steph has worked with a range of organisations to offer calligraphy classes to their communities. Last year, we added a few household names to our list of venues, including HOME and Factory International in Manchester.
